IKO Roofing Company in San Diego: What to Know First
We’re an independent IKO service provider in San Diego, and we repair and replace IKO roofs without the manufacturer runaround. Most IKO shingle repairs run $380 to $850, and a full IKO roof replacement on a typical San Diego single-story home lands between $11,500 and $19,000 depending on the series and roof pitch. You’ll know the price before we touch your roof. For a free estimate, call (619) 393-3877.
This page is for San Diego homeowners who already have IKO shingles on their roof, or who are deciding whether IKO makes sense for their next replacement. We’ve worked on IKO Cambridge, Dynasty, Nordic, and Royal Estate roofs from Chula Vista to Poway, and we treat the brand on its own terms, not as a generic “roofing job.”
How IKO Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Cambridge granule loss on south-facing slopes. IKO Cambridge is common across San Diego, and the same sun that makes our weather great beats the life out of the asphalt layer. We see premature granule loss on south-facing and west-facing exposures more than on any other orientation. The fix is usually localized replacement of the affected slope before the mat underneath starts to break down. If caught early, you avoid sheathing replacement.
- Dynasty sealant strips letting go in coastal zones. Dynasty’s sealant strip is designed for high-wind performance, but in neighborhoods like Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and Imperial Beach, constant salt air and temperature swings can cause the strips to lose tack before the shingle is worn out. This shows up as lifted tabs after a Santa Ana wind event. We re-secure the tabs with a compatible adhesive and, where the issue is widespread, recommend a partial reroof of that plane.
- Nordic flaring at the eaves. IKO Nordic is a heavier shingle, and if the original installer didn’t add a starter strip correctly, the butt edges can flare upward at the drip edge. That flare catches wind and makes the whole bottom course vulnerable. Our crews remove the bottom course, correct the starter row, and retie the first course flat.
- Royal Estate cracking in inland heat. Royal Estate is a premium architectural shingle, but inland San Diego gets hot: Santee, El Cajon, Lakeside. Shingles that don’t fully adhere to the decking will flex and crack along the nail line. We see this on roofs that were installed with an air nailer set too deep or too shallow. The fix depends on how far it’s progressed, but we usually replace the cracked shingles and resecure the surrounding ones.
- Nail-overdriving on every series. This isn’t exclusive to IKO, but it’s the most common IKO repair we do in San Diego. Overdriven nails tear the shingle and leave no hold. When we fix IKO roofs, we pull the bad nails and replace the damaged shingle with a correctly set fastening. That’s not a patch; that’s the actual repair.

Our IKO Roofing Company Process
- 1
Call and describe the roof. A live person answers, even at 9:30 on a Saturday night. We ask about the shingle series if you know it, the slope where the problem is, and what you’ve seen: a leak, a lifted shingle, granules in the gutter.
- 2
We show up with a written estimate. No call happens without a written price first. We give you the range before we set foot on the ladder, and the final number before any work begins.
- 3
Diagnostics on the roof. We check the decking, underlayment, flashing, drip edge, and the IKO shingle itself. We look for the failure pattern and whether it’s isolated or a sign of a larger installation problem.
- 4
Parts decision, explained plainly. Where an OEM IKO match makes sense, we use it. Where a quality aftermarket component handles the job as well or better, we tell you and note it on the estimate. No silent substitutions.
- 5
The repair or replacement. Background-checked, uniformed techs do the work, and we clean up when we’re done: magnet sweep for nails, gutters flushed, driveway clear.
- 6
Written guarantee before we leave. Every repair carries a written guarantee, and if that repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s not offered verbally. It’s on the receipt.

AfterWhat IKO Roofing Company Costs in San Diego
Here are the numbers we quote most often in San Diego:
- IKO shingle repair, isolated: $380 to $850
- IKO partial slope replacement: $2,400 to $4,800
- Full IKO reroof, single-story, architectural: $11,500 to $16,500
- Full IKO reroof, two-story or steep pitch: $14,000 to $19,000
What moves the price: the IKO series (Cambridge is less than Royal Estate), the pitch of the roof, decking condition, and whether the home is in a coastal zone that requires a specific underlayment. We give an exact written price before work starts, and that number doesn’t change at the door. Call (619) 393-3877 for a free estimate on your IKO roof.
Why San Diego Homeowners Call Tilehurst Roofing San Diego for IKO Work
Most of our customers have already been burned once, usually by a contractor who said they’d do an IKO roof and then showed up with whatever shingles were on the truck. We don’t do that. We stock and install IKO, along with GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and the rest of our seven manufacturer lines. That means the estimate is based on the product that fits your home, not what happens to be in the yard. Greg Holloway, our owner, started learning roofing in a construction trades program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has worked IKO roofs across San Diego from bungalows near Balboa Park to larger homes in Santee. The Kingswell Way is simple: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails.
FAQs
We don’t process IKO warranty claims on the manufacturer’s behalf, but we install and repair to the standards that keep your warranty valid, and we document the work. As an independent IKO service provider, we can tell you if a failure is a manufacturer defect or an installation issue before you spend money on a claim.
Yes, in most cases. IKO’s color lines, like Dual Black, Driftwood, and Weatherwood, are still produced, and we can order the exact match. If your series is discontinued, we’ll match the closest available and show you a sample before we install it. Call (619) 393-3877 and we’ll do a free estimate.
Isolated repairs are usually done in half a day. Partial slope replacements take a full day. A full IKO reroof in San Diego is typically a two- to three-day job for a single-story, weather permitting. We’ll give you a window in writing before any work starts.
No. The written price is the price. If we find decking rot, we stop, show you, and give you a separate written price for the extra work. Nothing gets added at the end without your signature.
Yes, with the right series and install practices. IKO Cambridge and Dynasty hold up well in our coastal climate, but inland heat on Royal Estate requires exact nail placement. We’d rather explain that on your roof than in a brochure. For a free estimate, call (619) 393-3877.
