Roofing Before & After in San Diego, CA
Photos tell the truth faster than any pitch we could write. What follows are real jobs from San Diego neighborhoods, each one a roof that had reached the end of its useful life or failed in a specific way. You’ll see the condition we found when we arrived, what we did about it, and how it looked when the crew packed up. That last part matters most to us, because the finished roof is the only part you’ll live with.

Asphalt Shingle Replacement in Clairemont Mesa
Before
After
Before
AfterThe problem here was classic San Diego sun damage. South-facing slopes in Clairemont take direct UV for ten-plus hours a day in summer, and after roughly 18 years these shingles had curled at the corners and lost most of their protective granules. We tore everything down to the decking, replaced three sheets of plywood that showed water staining, and installed a full GAF system with new underlayment, drip edge, and ridge cap. The homeowner told us afterward the house finally looked “finished” again.
Flat Roof Tear-Off and Re-Cover in North Park
Before
After
Flat roofs on older North Park bungalows get punished in ways pitched roofs don’t. Ponding water sat on this one long enough to blister the membrane, and the scupper drains were clogged with decades of debris. We removed the old roofing, repaired the damaged plywood at the low spot, and installed a new membrane with a white reflective top coat that knocks down attic heat in August. We also rebuilt the scupper openings so water actually leaves the roof now instead of camping on it.
Storm Damage Repair in Rancho Peñasquitos

Rancho Peñasquitos gets real wind when storms roll through the canyons, and this roof lost a section of shingles along the rake edge. Water had already made its way under the underlayment and into the fascia. We replaced the damaged decking, installed new flashing where the roof meets the wall, and matched the replacement Owens Corning shingles as closely as color and weathering allowed. The written guarantee on this repair was in the homeowner’s hand before the crew climbed down.
Tile Roof Repair in La Jolla

Tile roofs in La Jolla take a beating from salt air and the occasional overhanging eucalyptus branch. This one had several cracked clay tiles and a section of underlayment that had been exposed long enough to tear. We removed the broken tiles, patched the underlayment, and reset the field with salvaged tiles the homeowner had stored behind the garage. Matching clay tile isn’t always possible, which is why we tell every tile-roof customer to keep a few spares after installation.
Full Re-Roof on a 1950s Ranch in El Cajon

This El Cajon ranch still had its original 1950s composite shingles under two generations of patches. We found rotted decking along the eave line and a ventilation setup that did nothing for the attic. The fix was a full tear-off, new plywood where needed, a continuous ridge vent, and CertainTeed Landmark shingles in a color that respected the home’s mid-century character. The homeowner saw the written price before we pulled the first nail, and the final invoice matched it to the dollar.
